Four Majors head for Rhodes
Annual Rhodes Trail Run - 3 July 2010

Rhodes is gearing itself for it's annual winter onslaught of trail runners and their family and friends. This year marks the 22nd time our small and rather secluded village will host one of South Africa's most prestigious sports events.

The organisers of the Liberty Medical Scheme Rhodes Trail Run mindful of the responsibility of maintaining their high standards at the event have also consciously kept the event one where all participants are treated equally. One of the Rhodes Trail Run's characteristics is that every runner is treated the same, receiving the same pre and post race rewards. The run has developed a huge positive following through steadfastly keeping the ethos of no money, position or lucky draw prizes.

Race organisers from a number of other major events have entered and will be lining up to compete with each other and the hills around Rhodes. They will also soak up the special hospitality provided by the entire Rhodes community over the weekend.

Entries, which closed in April, have been received from Rowyn James (Two Oceans Marathon Race Director), Paul Wolff (Ironman South Africa and 70.3 Ironman Race Director), Nadia Arndt (Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Race Director) and coming all the way from Australia is Colin Jeftha (Race Director of Australia's biggest ultra trail event, the 6 Foot Track Marathon).
