The two-year break fudges the grey matter, playing tricks on the route through the Kloppershoekkloof.

A query earlier this week on the route through the kloof rekindled memories of the ‘Klippies’ from St Dominic’s Priory School and their feed station midway through the kloof. Incidentally, as with 'the Tufts of Terror', the route through the kloof tends to change from year to year.

Five of our 2022 entrants Lennord (#339), Kobus (#181), Peter (#368), Guillaume (#333) and Sham (#13) will recall running through the kloof the year when it was uncertain if our crew would be able to reach 'Mavis Top' due to heavy snow 'up high'. Four others who remain closely involved with our run Andrew (#532), Guy (#398), Mark (#106) and Roger (#259) also earned a finisher medal that day.

Friday afternoon the 'Klippies' hiked into a winter-brown kloof carrying their tents as well as tables and everything needed for their feed station.

The 'Klippies' woke up to a colder and dramatically changed landscape.

Two of these faces peeping out their tent subsequently earned their Snowflake Permanent Number.

Balloons provided colour at the Mavis Bank Farm check point.

It proved a most welcome stop!
