One of our all time favourite trail run quotes, attributed to Red Fisher after the 1986 Wasatch 100:
"I hammered up the trail, passing rocks and trees as if they were standing still"
It can be adapted for Rhodes to "I hammered along Hooggenoeg, passing tufts and stones as if they were standing still"
