The Trail Run produced and sponsored Rhodes Trail Run Polar Bear Club™ certificates for those who want more than just frostbite as a souvenir from their evening dip in the iced Bell River. The certificates are on sale at 'Walkerbouts'.
The entire proceeds from the sale of the certificates goes to the Rhodes Vulture Restaurant. The Restaurant, which has been supported by the Endangered Wildlife Trust and the Maloti Drakensberg Transfrontier Project, is an ongoing project to provide a safe haven feeding area for the Cape Vulture and Bearded Vulture. The Bearded Vulture is listed as an endangered species.
Dave Walker, the driving force behind the Vulture Restaurant for over a decade and genial host at Walkerbouts, should be contacted by anyone interested in finding out more about the restaurant or who wants to make any form of contribution to the restaurant and/or it's upkeep.
The Trail Run is proud to be able to support the Restaurant in this small way. Only in Rhodes can Polar Bears support vultures!
