On Sunday evening 20 September a devasting fire swept through the Rhodes Public School in Zakhele.
While thankfully no one was hurt everything was destroyed. The loss is huge.
If 2020 was already not tough enough for the community.

Monday morning and Mari Small's photograph shows that the twisted metal roof was all that remained.
Following the cancellation of our 2020 event we* modified our 'Spring' Polar Bear shirt.
Our October Polar Bear would have been shading himself on the banks of the Bell River watching our 'Rhodes Run Polar Bear Club Class of 2020' earn their membership certificates. Alas this was not to be.
The 'Spring' Polar Bear shirt was modified, with a nod to the COVID-19 pandemic in the year, and this is the shirt our 2020 entrants will receive.

Thank you Aramex for these fabulous Store-to-Door bags which enabled us to send a pack to each of our 2020 entrants.
It is with much sadness the 2020 Rhodes Trail Run is cancelled.
The 32nd Rhodes Run is scheduled to be held on 10 July 2021.
