New Year Wishes
As 2021 morphs into 2022 we will keep it simple and wish you good health and trails, lots of both, in the new year.
Generously sprinkled with much laughter, fun, family and friends.

Well, that is it.
Tranche 1 invitations for Rhodes Run 2022 closed.
Tranche 2 from our Waiting List now activated.
Harlequin Harriers recently hosted a charity run in honour of the late Geoff Hesse who holds Rhodes Snowflake Number 569.
As Harlequin Harriers' Sam Rolland wrote "Geoff was a huge fan of the race and went as far as to earn his snowflake number."
Sam's post-run note "It was freezing, and the route was very hilly, so in a way, a fitting run to honour Geoff and the Rhodes Run! I am very pleased that we have collected a decent amount of clothing and goods."
Thank you Sam and Harlequins, a truly meaningful memorial club run for Geoff. Your donations will be gratefully received by the Zakhele community.
Huge appreciation to Aramex who are shipping the boxes from Pretoria for us.
Over the years Aramex has transported massive amounts for us to the Zakhele Community and to the Rhodes Public School. We will never forget that Aramex truck filled with desks, chairs etc after the school was destroyed by fire last year.
Thank you Quins and Aramex.
One thing the past twenty four months has taught is, we have found what we took for granted.
Our Rhodes Trail Run was one of the joys in many lives which was taken for granted, and in turn our annual gathering has missed the joy and camaraderie of our family of runners and crew.
The pupils at the Rhodes Public School have missed their school. Again, taken for granted, the building was destroyed by fire in September 2020. We are so grateful for all the donations which assisted the staff, parents and pupils to put together an arrangement which has seen them through these past two years and will carry them through the forceseeable future.
There was a void in the education process, something that is pretty much taken for granted everywhere else, Wi-Fi.
Into this breach stepped one of our crew, who over more than a decade has assisted not only at our run but also extremely meaningfully at the school.
Earlier this week, with massive thanks to Julia, Wi-Fi went live for the Rhodes Public School, enabling pupils and teachers access which till then was not possible.
This ongoing donation will change lives and create opportunity.
While not wanting the spotlight, it would be seriously remiss of us not to acknowledge this truly significant donation and contribution to the lives of the youngsters in Zakhele.
Thank you Jules.
In 2013 to celebrate our 25th birthday, our silver anniversary, we produced a book reviewing our first 25 years. Each entrant received a complimentary copy at registration. While we penned much of the text and selected images the striking, eye-catching, and highly effective layout was the creative work of Guy Jennings ** and his team. Eight years on the book remains a much-desired item of Rhodes Run memorabilia and we frequently receive requests for a copy of this limited-edition publication which is no longer available.
There is one copy which is extremely special. We had extra blank pages included at the back and as they passed through the pre-race registration process each entrant signed or wrote their name on the back pages.
A unique and much treasured memento of our 25th event.
Each name leaps at us out with memories.
Is your name one of these suitably smudged entries? **
Note 1: * Guy is Snowflake No 398 and carries the moniker ‘Polar Bear’ with much pride.
Note 3: ** Signatures blurred to conform with POPI.
